Metaxu

Guylaine Cosseron : voice
Jean-Sébastien Mariage : guitar
Sébastien Bouhana : snare

The Metaxu trio visits the in-between, not of the sound but its meaning. It is the association of these three musicians and only this that will define a sound object, an aesthetic, an ethic. For here each one works elsewhere, limiting by their respective sounds an empty environment, free to all interpretation. Their only desire is to create this link which by its mixture, its spinning, will reveal a form which, whatever one says, always presents itself as an end.
Attached exclusively to this attempt, they allow each listener to see better than them even what will come out of it, not with certainty, but on the contrary, with the distance to oneself that imposes itself then.

Guylaine Cosseron boldly goes where no vocal chord has gone before. Her experimentation puts her voice to the test, exposing her desires, driving her to the limit, exploring the edges. Guylaine’s instrument includes her breath and saliva, her lips, palate, and glottis, her throat, chest and nose. It’s a total singing experience, that sees her reach an incredible variety of tones, exploring an inexhaustable field of possibilities

Jean-Sébastien Mariage : The sound is imposing with biting distortion, piercing attack rifs, and sparkling ruptures; you can almost feel the texture of the music, Here’s the proof that there are still new things to be done with string instruments.

Sébastien Bouhana Bouhana’s music is extremely sensual (Pessoa might call it sensational) and corporal. There’s no formalism, nothing is intellectualised; the exploration is undertaken by the body in a sensory mode; the percusssion skins are the extension of Bouhana’s organism, the senses mediate and direct the repercussions, giving life to unexpected, extraordinary resonance.
